Cultural Site Officers
Cultural Site Officers are responsible for undertaking assessments to ensure the protection of traditional culture and heritage. They carefully assess the site to determine the presence and significance of cultural materials, practices, or values. Based on this assessment, they advise whether cultural items can be respectfully relocated, must be protected and kept in place, or whether works can proceed without impacting cultural heritage. Their role is critical in ensuring that any activity on Country is carried out in a culturally appropriate and respectful manner, guided by traditional knowledge and protocols. We have 9 Cultural Site Officers across Yaegl Country.
